Man Arrested Twice in Two Weeks

On Thursday, May 2, 2019, Drew Co. Sheriff’s Deputy Daniel Garrison was dispatched to Hwy 425 N. Upon arrival Deputy Garrison was told by witnesses at the scene a verbal altercation occurred between two white males on the side of the highway. One of the white males involved, later identified as Stephen Koble, age 28 a resident of Drew Co. formerly of California, exited his vehicle and argued with another white male, who was walking on the shoulder of the highway. Koble returned to his vehicle and exited the roadway and entered the ditch attempting to run over the other subject. The victim jumped into the wood line to avoid being struck by Koble’s vehicle. Koble reentered the highway and left the scene travelling north on Highway 425. A description of the vehicle was sent to Lincoln Co. and deputies stopped the vehicle shortly after the incident. Koble was transported to the Drew Co. Detention Facility and booked for Aggravated Assault. On May 3, 2019 Stephen Koble appeared before Judge Bruce Anderson and bond was set at $5,000.00. Koble later bonded out of jail on those charges.
On Sunday May 12, 2019 Deputy Daniel Garrison and Deputy Brandon Wright were dispatched to Bordeaux Lane in reference to a Breaking or Entering. Items were reported missing from a storage building which also included a dryer. On Saturday night May 11, 2019 witnesses observed a white male, identified as Stephen Koble age 28 a resident of Drew Co. formerly of California, on the property in a black Ford truck with California plates known to be Koble’s vehicle. Witnesses also saw that black Ford truck leaving the property in the early morning hours on Sunday. An arrest warrant for Stephen Koble was issued by Judge Bruce Anderson on Thursday May 16, 2019 on Breaking or Entering charges. Koble was arrested later that afternoon by Chief Deputy Brian Slaughter and booked into the Drew Co Detention Facility on charges of Breaking or Entering, Theft of Property and Criminal Trespass. At the time of Koble’s arrest he was found to be in possession of a stolen firearm, which had been reported stolen days earlier in Monticello. The stolen items, two dryers, a stove and a rechargeable drill, were recovered and returned to the owner. Koble was interviewed by Sheriff Mark Gober and Detective Rick Harvey concerning the theft. Koble appeared before Judge Anderson for a First Appearance on Friday May 17, 2019. A $25,000.00 bond was set for Koble. He remains in the Drew Co Detention Facility at the time of this press release.
