Man Arrested on Multiple Charges After Getting Stuck in Field

12/26/2011

On December 23 at approximately 11:45 PM, a Drew County Sheriff Deputy was dispatched to Winchester in reference to an erratic driver that had driven through a person’s yard almost hitting their home. When the deputy arrived he found a truck stuck in the mud in a field beside Murphy Cash store with the driver, Richard Maxwell, age 29 of Hermitage, still inside the vehicle. The driver appeared to be disoriented and kept mumbling to his self. The driver told the deputy that he had taken three tramadol and a wine cooler before he had left his house that night. After performing the field sobriety tests, Maxwell was placed under arrest and taken to the Drew County Detention Facility where was charged with DWI drugs, criminal mischief, criminal trespass, destruction of property, and refusal to submit DWI. Maxwell was release from jail on December 24 after posting a $1600 bond.
