On March 18, 2020, the Monticello dispatch reported a 911 call came from a person at the Valero North gas station on US Highway 425 North; the caller stated someone had stolen her black charger while she was in the store. The victim had a friend waiting for her in another vehicle, they followed her car out of Monticello onto Highway 83 North. The victim continued to give their location while following the charger using her cell phone. Arkansas Highway Police Officer Philip Roberts heard the call and was able to stop the vehicle, seconds late deputies were on scene. Vertrell Davis, 46, of Warren, AR was arrested and charged with theft of a vehicle. Davis was placed in the Drew County Detention Facility and is currently being held on a $25,000 bond.
