04/30/2019

Tony Simmons, 38, of Monticello, was placed under arrest April 24th at approximately 3:00 PM on charges of aggravated assault, battery 3rd, violation of an order of protection and possession with intent to deliver. The incident was reported by a 911 call from the female victim alleging Tony Simmons had physically assaulted her and a male victim outside of a residence on East Bolling in Monticello. Sheriff Mark Gober arrived at the residence and spoke with the victim she stated Simmons had left the area. She also stated Simmons had pulled a knife and cut the shirt she was wearing. It is also alleged that he repeatedly hit the male subject in the ribs.

Approximately thirty minutes later Sheriff Gober returned to the scene and observed Simmons next door at an abandoned mobile home and placed Simmons under arrest. While being transported to the jail, Simmons told the deputy where a plastic bag containing what appeared to be a white crystal substance was located. Simmons pointed out a bad laying in a yard near the road. The bag was seized, and tested. The field test results were positive for methamphetamines.

Simmons remains in custody at the Drew County Detention Facility on a $25,000 bond.
