Arrest Made After an Afternnon Manhunt

On February 7, 2017 the Drew County Sheriff’s Office received a call reporting that Caleb Hall had busted out the windows of his wife’s car and was currently fighting her and threatening to kill her.

The caller who was identified as the grandfather of Hall stated that he was following the vehicle occupied by Hall and his wife and stated that Hall was striking her while traveling down the road. The caller requested the assistance of law enforcement in which was dispatched to the area of Lacey.

 While in route to the call of the domestic disturbance it was relayed to authorities that immediate assistance was need on Highway 133 in Lacey that the incident was now stationary on the side of the roadway. Just moments after the call came in Sgt. A.C. Simpson arrived on scene and Hall began to run around the vehicle on scene which belonged to his grandfather. Sgt. Simpson ordered him to stop but Hall refused and proceeded to get into the driver's side of the vehicle and attempt to drive off. The grandfather of Hall attempted to get Hall to get out of the truck and to obey law enforcement but Hall refused and proceed to drive off with his grandfather being drug down the highway for approximately 35 yards. When his grandfather could no longer hang on he fell onto the roadway and the rear of driver side tire ran over the legs of the grandfather.

 Hall stopped that vehicle at this point and got out to check on his grandfather and proceeded to drive off in his grandfather’s truck. Medical assistance was requested for the grandfather and he was transported to the hospital for treatment.

 Statements were gathered from both Hall’s wife and grandfather in reference to the incident. During the gathering of information it was discovered that Hall was threatening to kill his wife and that as they were fighting in the car Hall had pushed his wife out of the vehicle as it was going at a slow rate of speed.

After she was pushed out of the car she was able to get up and go jump in the vehicle with his grandfather who was following them. Hall then jumped in the back of the truck and proceeded to try and get inside the cab area of the vehicle. At this point the grandfather stopped the truck on the side of the highway.

A search for Hall was conducted and while doing so it was discovered that Hall had abandoned the truck and stole a relatives ATV. It was disclosed to officers that a pistol was believed to have been taken out of the truck by Hall. A few hours later information was gathered that Hall was at the Lacey Cemetery and when law enforcement arrived Hall proceed to flee on the ATV but was apprehended shortly after.

 Hall is being charged with Theft of Motor Vehicle, Theft of Property over $1,000, Felony Fleeing, Battery 1st and Battery 2nd and Terroristic Threatening First Degree
