At approximately 1:30 AM on Saturday, August 18^th, a Drew County Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched to Highway 425 South, passed the racetrack south of Monticello, to a report of a truck in the ditch. When the deputy arrived at the scene of the accident he noticed two men, the driver and passenger, walking away from the truck towards Ladelle. The driver, Brian Velasquez, age 25 of Hamburg, told the deputy that he had been dragging the frame of his truck when he lost control and went in the ditch on the opposite side of the road. Due to the odor of intoxicants coming from the driver, a field sobriety test was given to Velasquez, which he failed. Velasquez was arrested and transported to the Drew County Detention Facility where he was charged with DWI and refusal to submit to BAC.
