Collins Man Arrested After Assaulting Woman

At approximately 3:00 PM on Saturday, August 4th, a Drew County Sheriff’s Deputy arrested Joseph L. Ward, age 50 of Collins, on charges of 3rd degree battery and terroristic threatening after a deputy responded to a report of a fight at a residence located in the Collins community. Ward had been at the residence drinking when he allegedly attacked another visitor to the home injuring her. As Ward was being transported to the Drew County Detention Facility, he made several threatening statements to the deputy which resulted in the addition of the terrorist threatening charge. Ward was taken for a first appearance on Monday, August 6th where he was given a bond of $1,025. He remains in jail at this time.
