Man Arrested for Growing Marijuana in House

On December 9, a Drew County Sheriff deputy was dispatched to a residence located at 2555 Highway 278 West at approximately 7:40 PM. A residence of the home asked to deputy to come inside to help her identify a plant. The deputy observed a plastic dish sitting on the kitchen window seal that contained a small green sprout. There was a lamp placed directly above the plant serving as a heat source. The deputy also noticed what appeared to be marijuana seeds planted in the dirt. Another residence of the house was located and placed under arrest. Jeremy A. Johnson, age 28 of Monticello, was transported to the Drew County Detention  Facility where he was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and manufacture of a schedule VI controlled substance. Johnson was release on December 12 after posting a $1500 bond.
