08/26/2011

On August 23, Robert A. Carr, age 51 of Monticello, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

Sheriff Mark Gober had received information during an investigation that Carr would be riding a red motorcycle and have in his possession illegal drugs. Members of the Drew County Sheriff’s Department and the Drug Task Force set up units to intercept Carr. At approximately 9:40 AM Carr was spotted riding a red motorcycle near his home on Highway 278 East near Carpenter Road. Carr attempted to evade officers by pulling into a nearby garage. He then parked and ran into the garage and was apprehended by deputies.

During a search of the surrounding area authorities discovered a clear plastic bag containing a white rock-like substance believed to be crack cocaine weighing approximately 3.4 grams. Carr was arrested and taken to the Drew County Detention Facility and the following day was issued a $2,500 bond before Circuit Judge Bynum Gibson. Carr bonded the following day. The motorcycle was also seized in the arrest.
